Fendi Baguette 25th Anniversary.
This week Fendi released images of their new ad campaign featuring the great Linda Evangelista, to mark the 25th Anniversary of the iconic Fendi Baguette Bag. Created in 1997, this was a truly era defining bag. It gave us a new silhouette, a slim bag that could be slipped neatly under the arm, just like a French loaf. It was small but definitely made an impact.
During the 90’s it was everywhere, often appearing in Sex and The City helped to cement it’s status as one of the first ‘It’ bags. Since then, Fendi have created over 1000 different versions of the Baguette and it has become a classic.
A Welcome 90's Throwback
What’s wonderful about the 25th anniversary campaign is that fashion has caught up with itself and once again the baguette is the hottest shape of the moment. It’s a very welcome 90’s throwback.
Back in the day Sex and The City was a phenomenon, a show about 4 young women navigating life and love in late 90’s New York. Patricia Field who styled the leading actors, was responsible for the fashion taking centre stage and becoming a major reason to tune in every week. Of course, the Fendi Baguette was one of the accessories featured.
