Transitional Trench Coats
A gentle reminder that Autumn is just around the corner with a not so gentle deluge of rain and a perfect opportunity to talk about Trench Coats!
Trench Coats are wonderful for many, many reasons which is why they have been a constant presence in fashion collections pretty much since they were invented.
For that very reason, because they have been a feature of every fashion decade, they are plentiful on vintage websites, in every style variation and colour. There is a vintage Trench out there just waiting for you to claim it!
Catwalk Inspiration
As always, taking our inspiration from Autumn Winter 2022 catwalks, there are so many great examples with leather giving us the look of the season. You can go head to toe is black for a full on 90’s Matrix feel like Balenciaga or something more colourful like Prada’s pink trench below
Finding Inspiration.
Whichever style of Trench you want to emulate vintage shopping is ideal. There is often a thread of nostalgia running through fashion at any given time so it’s always possible to go straight back to source and use originals. A good tip when searching vintage sites, try spelling search items incorrectly. We also used ‘belted coat’ as well as ‘trench coat’.look!
There are lots of real leather options available, our favourite by far is a snake print leather trench coat pictured above & below, it’s a great shape, great length, colour is ideal as it will go with everything and it's the perfect addition to any wardrobe. The snake print is reminiscent of the 90’s so fits the trend perfectly and of course its unique – this is a great vintage item as it echos the catwalk but it's not the same, helping you to create a look that's totally unique!
You Don't Have To Go It Alone!
Of course you don’t have to wear a vintage Trench Coat as bought, you can alter it to create something to suit your style, you can replace buttons or trims with something more glitzy to create an evening look for example.
